Cultural Heritage Awareness Day:
Celebrating Our Home Place
October 20, 2007

Sponsored by New Acadia Farm in collaboration with the The Tunbridge Grange and Tunbridge Historical Society.

We invite you to a day in Tunbridge; a day which will take you through scenic Route 110 to Whitney Hill, North Tunbridge Village, The Elementary School and Tunbridge Village. Activities include:

New Acadia Farm celebrates the centennial birthday of the Whitney Round Barn built in 1907

Where: New Acadia Farm (see Directions)
Open House: 11a.m. — 5p.m.
Suggested donation: $15/day, $5-10/workshop/presentation

  • Barn Tours & Farm History Walks/Talks: 11a.m - 12p.m. and 4p.m. - 5p.m.
  • Common Threads presentation with Karen Sutherland (a cultural-exchange project with Romania weaving music & folklore with fiber arts): 12:15p.m. - 1p.m.
  • Felting Workshop with Janet Cathy: 1p.m. - 2p.m.
  • Improvisation Workshop for all instruments with Peter Davis: 2:30p.m - 3:30p.m. ($10/person)
  • Accordion Workshop with Jeremiah McLane: 1p.m. - 2p.m. ($10/person)

Open House at the Tunbridge Grange Building

(embarking on a handicap accessibility project for 2007-2008)

Where: Tunbridge Grange Building is on Route 110 in North Tunbridge.
Refreshments and local farm crafts and artisan crafts available. Exhibits by the Tunbridge Historical Society and the Tunbridge Grange. Raffle tickets sales benefit the Steeple Restoration Fund in North Tunbridge.

The Clayfoot Strutters Community Dance Party Celebration the Tunbridge Town Hall

When: 7:30p.m. - 10:30pm
Cost: $8/person

A merry mix of contradances interspersed with awesome swing and other poly-rhythmic grooves that provide irresistable dance music for everyone.

Swing dance workshop with Robin Russell at 6:30 pm (no charge) Please bring clean, soft-soled shoes for dancing.

Pura Vida Dance Camp Adventure in Costa Rica presentation will be offered at the break. A cross-cultural dance/travel adventure with The Clayfoot Strutters at a remote ranch in the mountains of Costa Rica in early March that includes contra & salsa dancing with the local "ticos".
