Children’s Activities with Artist-in-Residence:  Sam Moffatt

Our Artist-In-Residence is someone who brings a professional level of teaching and mastery of her art to offer to interested Campers and Guests.  In exchange, she receives a home-base and time to focus on developing her own skills, finding inspiration, and creating new work in the setting offered here. This year we welcome Sam Moffatt of nearby Vershire, Vermont to lead the Children’s Program.

Don’t let her local residence fool you.  Sam has traveled the globe as a performing artist on hammered dulcimer, folk dance connoisseur and accordionist.  She is steeped in the traditions of music and folk culture from both France and Canada, yet her teaching repertoire spans the range from leading African drum circles to teaching folk dances and games for ages 3 and up.  She is a registered Vermont Folk Artist with the Vermont Arts Council, offering residencies in Vermont schools throughout the school year.

Sam will be teaching at our Youth Day Camp June 21 – July 5, and will supervise and lead activities for children and anyone else who wishes to join her over the Dance Camp weekend.  She will be bringing her ensemble of instruments for children to learn on, teaching dances and conducting a variety of other youth-oriented games during designated hours.

Sam will also be available for those wishing to partake in a Hammered Dulcimer workshop.
