Frequently Asked Questions

1. How close is the nearest store and gas station?

Basic fuel and food service is close by with The North Tunbridge General Store at the foot of the hill, owned and operated by Pat & Joe Menai. They provide catering services, a deli, fresh pizza, groceries, most essentials and friendly service.

2. Where can I buy organic foods?

In the village of South Royalton, a newly formed Cooperative Market provides a beautiful, new store with locally grown and organic produce, meats and other products complete with a cozy nook by the window to gaze out on the village green and sip hot coffee or savor a bowl of fresh soup & bread.

3. What's a good biking route?

In non-winter months, it's a wonderful bike ride downhill from the Farm along the river through the valley to the neighboring villages. Tunbridge Village is four miles, the South Royalton green is just seven miles down-river, Chelsea village is up the valley seven miles, Randolph is over the hills ten miles to the west, and Strafford village is over the hill ten miles to the east. Every season offers fresh ideas for exploring, discovering and adventuring.

4. What is happening in the area?

If there is time to explore the local character of The First Branch of the White River, the isolated valley which leads to Whitney Hill, there are even more worthwhile experiences to pursue. The Tunbridge Fair Grounds is the host of the annual "Tunbridge World's Fair" in September, one of the state's most truly Agricultural Fairs, and also of the annual "Vermont History Expo" in June, where the local history is exhibited in an experiential and hands-on fashion. Throughout the year, local Tunbridge village gatherings still include the March "Sugaring Off party", the July "Ice Cream Social, the Memorial Day "Plant Sale" and Parade, and the October "Chicken Pie Supper". Each month there is a local Contra-dance at the Tunbridge Grange.

Guests also have the opportunity to arrange for a guide to lead them to many of these hidden places of interest on and around the farm and region.
